OCBC Cycle 2021 Rules and Regulations

Updated as of 21 May 2021

General

      1. OCBC Cycle 2021 (the “Event”) is owned by Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited (the “Event Owner”) and organised and managed by PICH Event Management Pte Ltd (the “Event Organiser”). These rules and regulations (the “Regulations”), which can be found at www.ocbccycle.com (the “Official Website”), apply to all persons participating in the Event.
      2. By submitting the application to participate in the Event, the person named in the online application form (the “Participant”) acknowledges that he/she has read these Regulations, and confirms his/her agreement and acceptance to abide by and comply with these Regulations. The Event Owner and the Event Organiser reserve the right to vary, amend, delete or add to any of these Regulations, at any time, in its sole and absolute discretion without prior notice.
      3. By submitting the application, the Participant also gives the Event Owner, the Event Organiser and their relevant business partners and agents permission to collect, use, disclose and process the Participant’s personal data (i) for purposes reasonably required for the organising and conducting of the Event; (ii) to contact the Participant to promote and market the Event and future events organized or held by the Event Owner and/or Event Organiser; (iii) for the purposes contemplated in these Regulations, and (iv) for such purposes as may be set out in the Event Owner’s Data Protection Policy, which is accessible at http://www.ocbc.com/policies or available on request and which the Participant is deemed to have read and understood through his/her submission of the application.
      4. Registration for the Event is confirmed only upon payment of the relevant registration fee (where applicable) and/or issuance of a confirmation email by the Event Organiser. Registration is strictly non-transferrable.
      5. The Event is only open to residents of Singapore.
      6. The Event Owner reserves the right to use any photographs, videos, motion pictures, images, recordings, or any other recording of the Event and its Participants for any commercial advertising and other promotional purposes linked to the Event or any future events organised or held by the Event Owner.
      7. The Participant agrees to: (i) provide true, accurate, current and complete information about himself/herself in the registration form (the “Registration Data”) and (ii) maintain and promptly update the Registration Data to ensure that it remains true, accurate, current and complete. The Event Owner and/or the Event Organiser may contact the Participant from time to time by email and/or SMS and/or phone call in connection with the Event.
      8. After registration, there will be no refund of any registration fees (where applicable) to any Participant who does not in due course take part in the Event, for any reason whatsoever. Registration is also strictly non-transferrable.
      9. The Event Owner and the Event Organiser reserve the right to modify any of these Regulations from time to time as each of them may deem fit. If there is ambiguity in any of these provisions, the Event Owner and Event Organiser shall be the sole authority to interpret them – and in so doing, they may (but is not obliged to) take into account the interests of all affected Participants. Participants will be notified of any amendments to these Regulations on the Official Website, and their continued participation in the Event shall be deemed as the Participants’ acceptance and agreement to the revised Regulations.
      10. The Participant acknowledges that the Event Owner does not assume any operational role in connection with the organization of the Event.
      11. To the greatest extent permitted by the law, the Event Owner and Event Organiser shall not be held liable to the Participant or any third party for any loss, damage, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, in connection with the Event. Any participation in the Event, and/or any of the activities or events contained or occurring therein, are at the sole risk of the Participant.
      12. The Event Owner and Event Organiser reserve the right to cancel or change any details of the Event or any component of it at any time without prior notice to Participants. Every reasonable effort will be made to inform Participants of changes prior to the date and/or timing of the Event. The Event Owner and the Event Organiser shall not be liable for any consequential loss or inconvenience arising from any cancellation or change of any details of the Event or any component thereof.

Event Categories

      1. Participants can sign up for the following Event categories:
        1. OCBC Cycle Virtual Rides:
          1. Mighty Saver® Kids Virtual Ride (5km) (For participants from 6 months to 12 years old)
          2. The Straits Times Virtual Ride (23km)
          3. The Sportive Virtual Ride (42km)
          4. The 100km Virtual Ride
          5. The 200km Virtual Ride
        2. OCBC Cycle Speedway Championships:
          1. OCBC Cycle Speedway Club Championship
          2. OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship
          3. OCBC Cycle Speedway Women Championship
      2. The Participant’s age will be deemed to be his/ her age as of the following dates:
        1. Mighty Savers® Kids Virtual Ride: 15 May 2021
        2. OCBC Cycle Speedway Championships: 31 December 2021
      3. If the Participant is under the age of 21, he/ she will need his/ her parent’s or guardian’s consent. Complete the indemnity section found on the online registration form. The completion of the indemnity form found on the Official Website shall constitute and be deemed as the Participant (who is under the age of 21) having obtained consent from his/her parent or legal guardian to participate in the Event, and accordingly, the parent’s and/or legal guardian’s (i) consent and approval for the Participant to participate in the Event, and (ii) acknowledgement and confirmation that the parent and/or legal guardian has read, understood and agreed to these Regulations.
      4. Where applicable, Participants are strictly not allowed to do the following after they have completed their registration:
        1. Transfer or sell their registration slots/event bibs;
        2. Change their event categories/ activities; or
        3. Change the size for their event apparel
      5. The following applies to the categories in OCBC Cycle Virtual Rides:
        1. Participants must completed their ride between 12:00am, 15 May 2021 and 11:59pm, 4 July 2021 (the “Event Period”).
        2. Participants can accumulate the required distance of the respective category in up to 4 sessions (indoor/ outdoor), as long as the ride is completed within the Event Period.
        3. Electric-powered/assisted bicycles are not allowed.
        4. The following documents are required to be submitted as proof of ride in order to be eligible for the event entitlements:
          1. A photo consisting of the Participant and his/her bicycle.
            (Note: Participants should be stationary and at a safe location before taking any photographs. Participants should adhere to safe distancing measures as well.)
          2. A photo of the ride details which must contain the date of activity, distance and duration of activity. The ride details must be captured using suitable fitness tracing devices or mobile applications. Participants may use multiple devices within the photo of their proof of ride, in order to display all required information.
          3. Participants can access the submission portal to submit their ride details between 15 May, 12:00am and 4 July, 11:59pm. Submission can only be done once and Participants should ensure that they have all the relevant details and images on hand before submitting their proof of ride. Participants will not be able to amend or supplement their ride details once the submission has been made.
          4. Event Owner and Event Organiser reserve the right to disqualify Participants if submitted documents are deemed to be unclear, incomplete or fraudulent.
        5. Upon validation of submission, qualified Participants will receive the following items:
          1. An e-Certificate which will be available for download within 7 days of submission.
            The e-Certificate will no longer be available for download on 26 July 2021 and the Event Organiser will not be required to provide you with the e-Certificate thereafter if you have not downloaded a copy by that date.
          2. Event entitlements will be delivered by 26 July 2021.
      6. The following applies to the categories in OCBC Cycle Speedway Club Championship:
        1. Teams can indicate their interest using the reservation form.
        2. Teams will be given a URL to make payment after the Event Organiser has reviewed and accepted their reservations
        3. Team reservations are confirmed only after the Event Organiser receives payment and a confirmation email is issued to the team members (see paragraph 18(e) below).
        4. Upon confirmation of the team reservation, confirmed teams will be given a code to register their participating team members. All registration of the participating team members must be completed by 14 May 2021.
        5. Places are confirmed only after all members of the team have completed their registration and the confirmation email is sent to the email addresses of the members provided during registration.
        6. Each team must comprise of four riders who are 19 years of age and above. There will be no reserve rider due to the limitation of safe distancing measures.
        7. Each Participant’s age will be deemed as the age the Participant will be upon reaching his/her birthday in the year of the Event.
        8. Mixed team of female and male riders is allowed.
        9. All riders must be registered prior the Event. Any request for replacement of rider shall be done before the start of the Event and evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If any request is approved, the replacement rider will need to adhere to the prevailing rules and regulations.
        10. All riders must be part of a local cycling club and residing in Singapore.
        11. Each rider can only represent one team within OCBC Cycle Speedway Championships.
        12. Each club can only register up to a maximum of two teams. However, the second team will be placed on a waiting list.
        13. A maximum of 12 teams is allowed for this category and registration is based on a first-come-first-served basis.
        14. The 12 teams will initially be divided into three groups of four teams to race.
        15. The winners and the 1st runners-up of each group will automatically qualify for the semi-finals. The two teams with the fastest timings among the remaining six teams will also proceed to the semi-finals.
        16. The winners and 1st runners-up of the semi-finals will automatically qualify for the finals.
        17. Format of a race:
          1. Each team is required to complete 10 laps of the 1km course – first five laps (1st pair of riders) and last five laps (next pair of riders).
          2. The time taken by a team to complete the race is deemed to be the average of the times taken by the third and fourth rider to cross the finishing line from the flag-off of the race.
        18. The following prizes will be given away: Champion – S$800 and Champions’ jersey; First Runner-Up – S$600; Second Runner-Up – S$400
        19. There is only one “open” category, with no separate winners/categories awards for mixed team, age group, etc.
        20. For safety reasons, only road bikes with two working brakes are allowed. Please refer to this link for more information on the types of bicycles and equipment allowed for the race.
        21. To ensure that all Participants have a safe environment to race in, the Event will be implementing several safe management measures during the event. This include:
          1. Reduced number of Participants
          2. Group segregation
          3. Staggered reporting time
          4. Controlled group size
          5. Mandatory usage of TraceTogether mobile application
          6. No centralized refreshment station
          7. Wearing of mask when not racing or performing strenuous exercise
        22. The Event Owner and the Event Organiser reserve the right to deny entry, disqualify or remove any Participant from the event venue who do not comply to the measures set.

      7. The following applies to the categories in OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship:
        1. Companies can indicate their interest using the reservation form.
        2. Companies will be given a URL to make payment after the Event Organiser has reviewed and accepted their reservations.
        3. Company reservations are confirmed only after the Event Organiser receives payment and a confirmation slip is issued to the team members (see paragraph 19(f) below).
        4. Upon confirmation of the reservation, Companies with confirmed places will be given a code to register their participating team members. All registration of the participating team members must be completed by 14 May 2021.
        5. A minimum of four corporate teams is required in order to proceed with the category. Participants will be informed should the category be cancelled and refunds will be made accordingly.
        6. Places are confirmed only after all the members of the team have completed their registration and the confirmation slip is sent to the email addresses of the members provided during registration.
        7. Each team must comprise of four riders who are 19 years of age and above. There will be no reserve rider due to the limitation of safe distancing measures.
        8. Each Participant’s age will be deemed as the age the Participant will be upon reaching his/her birthday in the year of the Event.
        9. Mixed teams of female and male riders is allowed.
        10. All riders must be registered prior the Event. Any request for replacement of rider shall be done before the start of the Event and evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If any request is approved, the replacement rider will need to adhere to the prevailing rules and regulations.
        11. All riders must be employees from the same company. Proof of identification and employment will be requested upon signing in on event day.
        12. Each rider can only represent one team within OCBC Cycle Speedway Championships.
        13. Each company can only register up to a maximum of two teams. However, the second team will be placed on a waiting list.
        14. A maximum of eight teams is allowed for this category and registration is based on a first-come-first-served basis.
        15. The eight teams will initially be divided into two groups of four teams to race.
        16. The winners and the 1st runners-up and 2nd runners-up of each group will automatically qualify for the semi-finals.
        17. The winners and 1st runners-up of the semi-finals will automatically qualify for the finals.

      9. The distance for OCBC Cycle Speedway Championships categories is approximate. The Event Organiser reserves the right to change the distance for any of the categories should circumstance demands it.

Safety and Medical – OCBC Cycle Virtual Ride

      1. Participants are encouraged to consult their medical practitioners prior to registration and before participating in the Event.
      2. Participants are strongly encouraged to adhere to safety advisories, cycling etiquettes and traffic rules when cycling outdoors. These can include:
        1. Ensuring the bicycle is safe for use
        2. Riding with a cycling helmet
        3. Looking out for other road users
        4. Refrain from using hand-held devices while riding
        5. Riding with a non-electric assisted/powered bicycle
        6. In view of the current pandemic situation, please adhere to the latest safe distancing measures
      3. Participants can visit www.ocbccycle.com/safe-cycling/ for more details on other safe cycling tips for the Event.
      4. Participants are advised to take up their own personal or other insurance policies. No insurance will be provided by the Event for the categories in the OCBC Cycle Virtual Ride.

Safety and Medical – OCBC Cycle Speedway Championships

      1. Participants are encouraged to consult their medical practitioners prior to registration and before participating in the Event.
      2. Participants are required to adhere to all safe distancing and management measures implemented by the Event Organiser. Any participant that does not comply will be denied entry to the Event or asked to leave.
      3. The Event Organiser reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice to Participants, to amend the cycling routes for the Event as it deems fit for the safety of the Participants. In such cases, every reasonable effort will be made to inform Participants prior to the date of the Event. The Event Organiser shall not be liable for any loss or inconvenience resulting from or attributable to such changes.
      4. All bicycles must be properly fitted with two brakes. Please refer to this link for more information on the types of bicycles and equipment allowed for the race.
      5. Participants who attend the Event with unapproved bicycles will be prohibited from participating in the Event or have their results disqualified.
      6. Participants must furnish details on the reverse side of the assigned Event bib accurately and attach the Event bib to their cycling jersey. If there is an emergency, the Event Organiser and medical personnel will refer to the form to contact the next-of-kin identified on the Event bib.
      7. Participants not wearing the Event bib will not be allowed to participate in the Event.
      8. For safety reasons, Participants have to be equipped with proper footwear on the day of the Event (the “Event Day”). Participants are not allowed to be in slippers, sandals or other footwear deemed unsuitable by the Event Organiser during their ride.
      9. If there is an emergency, medical personnel reserve the right:
        1. to remove any Participants if they decide that he/she is unable to continue his/her ride; and
        2. to send any casualties to the nearest recommended hospital.
      10. Basic personal accident insurance coverage is available for Participants (aged 19 to 80 years old) in the OCBC Cycle Speedway Club Championships. Insurance coverage shall commence from the official start of the ride till the end of the ride with the following policy limits:
          – S$5,000 for accidental death
          – S$5,000 for permanent disability
          – S$500 for medical expenses (Excess: S$50 any one accident, maximum S$1,000 for the insured period)

        The basic personal accident insurance coverage is subject to Great Eastern General Insurance Limited standard policy terms, conditions and exceptions. Please refer to them for more information.

        All payouts will be based on assessments and approvals of duly completed claim forms together with supporting documents within 14 days of the accident occurrence.

Promotion

      1. OCBC credit/debit card members will be entitled to a 10% discount off the relevant full rate registration fees when they sign up for the event with their OCBC cards.
      2. In addition to the above, the first 200 Participants who sign up for The 100km and 200km Virtual Rides using OCBC Pay Anyone™ will receive a S$2 cashback. The S$2 cashback will be credited to the Participant’s OCBC bank account after 30 days from registration.
      3. All promotions apply only to online registrations via the Official Website.
      4. Each promotion cannot be used in conjunction, or in tandem, with another discount/promotion.
      5. All fees are quoted in Singapore Dollars.
      6. There will be no extension of any registration promotion.
      7. The eligibility of any Participant to participate in this promotion and/or receive any cashback or discount shall be determined at the absolute discretion of the Event Owner.
      8. The Event Owner reserves the right at its absolute discretion to terminate the promotion or vary, delete or add to any of these terms and conditions at any time without notice including without limitation, the eligibility of any participant and the dates of the promotion.
      9. The Event Owner’s decisions on all matters relating to the promotion shall be final and binding on all participants. No correspondence or appeal shall be entertained by the Event Owner. In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and any brochure, marketing or promotional material relating to the promotion, these terms and conditions shall prevail.
      10. The Event Owner shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to any person in connection with the Promotion howsoever arising, including any error in computing chances, any breakdown or malfunction in any computer system or equipment, or any notice which is misdirected or lost in the post or in transmission.
      11. These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of Singapore and each participant in the Promotion irrevocably submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore. A person who is not a party to any agreement governed by these terms and conditions shall have no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap 53B) to enforce any of these terms and conditions.

OCBC Cycle 2020 Virtual Ride Rules and Regulations

Event Categories

          1. Registration for the Event will open in these stages:
            1. 21 July – 14 August:
              1. Donation and registration for participants who have previously registered for the physical event.
              2. Code registration for group participants who have previously registered for the physical event (e.g. Corporate, Go 5/10 or more, OCBC Cycle Speedway Championships). All unused codes will expire and be deemed to be forfeited by 15 August, 12:00am. For avoidance of doubt, each individual in the group should use the codes to register for the Event.
            2. 15 August – 18 September:
              1. Public registration
          2. Participants can sign up for the following Event categories:
            1. Mighty Savers® Kids VR (2 – 5 years old): 800m distance
            2. Mighty Savers® Kids VR (5 – 12 years old): 5km distance
            3. The Straits Times VR: 23km distance

          3. The Participant’s age will be deemed to be his/her age as of the following dates:
            1. Mighty Savers® Kids VR (2 – 5 years old): 9 May 2020
            2. Mighty Savers® Kids VR (5 – 12 years old): 9 May 2020
            3. The Straits Times VR: 10 May 2020
            4. The Sportive VR: 10 May 2020
          4. The following applies to Mighty Savers® Kids VR (2 – 5 years old):
            1. Participants will ride for a minimum distance of 800m.
            2. Participants who have previously registered for the physical event and have opted-in for the virtual ride between 21 July – 14 August will receive their apparel by 14 September.
          5. The following applies to Mighty Savers® Kids VR (5 – 12 years old):
            1. Participants will ride for a minimum distance of 5km.
            2. Participants who have previously registered for the physical event and have opted-in for the virtual ride between 21 July – 14 August will receive their apparel by 14 September.
          6. The following applies to The Straits Times VR:
            1. Minimum age of 13 years old and above.
            2. Participants will ride for a minimum distance of 23km.
            3. Participants who have previously registered for the physical event under the “Go Red” category and have opted-in for the virtual ride between 21 July – 14 August will receive their apparel by 14 September.
          7. The following applies to The Sportive VR:
            1. Minimum age of 16 years old and above.
            2. Participants will ride for a minimum distance of 42km.
            3. Participants who have previously registered for the physical event under the “Go Red” category and have opted-in for the virtual ride between 21 July – 14 August will receive their apparel by 14 September.
          8. If you are under the age of 21, you will need your parent’s or guardian’s consent. Complete the indemnity section found on the online registration form. The completion of the indemnity form found on the Official Website shall constitute and be deemed as the Participant (who is under the age of 21) having obtained consent from his/her parent or legal guardian to participate in the Event.
          9. Once Participants complete their registration for the Event, they are strictly not allowed to:
            1. Transfer their registration slots;
            2. Change their event categories/activities; or
            3. Change the size for their Event apparel (only applicable for participants who have previously registered for the physical event under “Go Red” and Mighty Savers® Kids & Family Ride).

Participation Details

          1. All participants must complete their ride between 1 November, 12:00am, and 15 November, 11:59pm. (the “Event Period”).
          2. Participants are allowed to accumulate the required distance of the respective category in up to 4 sessions, as long as the ride is completed within the Event Period.
          3. The following information required to be submitted in order to be eligible for the event entitlements:
            1. A picture consisting of the Participant and their bicycle at the start of their ride
            2. A picture of the ride details which must contain the following:
              1. Date of activity
              2. Distance
              3. Duration of activity
            3. A picture consisting of the Participant and their bicycle at the end of their ride
          4. Participants can access the user portal to submit the required information between 1 November, 12:00pm and 15 November, 11:59pm. Submission can only be done once and Participants should ensure that they have all the relevant details and images on hand before submitting the required information. Participants will not be able to amend or supplement their ride details once the submission has been made.
          5. Participants may choose to cycle either indoors or outdoors to clock their distance. Participants must be able to track and capture their ride details using suitable fitness tracking devices or mobile applications, in order to submit the required information. Please refer to the FAQs for more details.
          6. Participants may use multiple devices within the required photo, in order to display all required information listed in point 23.
          7. The Event Owner and the Event Organiser reserve the right to disqualify Participants if submitted documents are deemed to be unclear, incomplete or fraudulent. Disqualified Participants will not be eligible to receive the event entitlements.
          8. Upon validation of submissions, qualified Participants will receive the following items:
            1. An e-Certificate which will be available for download within 7 days of submission. The e-Certificate will no longer be available for download after 7 December and the Event Owner and the Event Organiser will not be required to provide you with the e-Certificate thereafter if you have not downloaded a copy by that date.
            2. An event medal and event tote bag by 7 December.

Safety and Medical

          1. Participants are encouraged to consult their medical practitioners prior to registration and before participating in the Event.
          2. Participants are strongly encouraged to adhere to safety advisories, cycling etiquettes and traffic rules when cycling outdoors. This can include:
            1. Ensuring the bicycle is safe for use
            2. Riding with a cycling helmet
            3. Looking out for other road users
            4. Refrain from using hand-held devices while riding
          3. Participants can visit https://ocbccycle.com/safe-cycling/ for more details on other safety measures and tips for the Event.
          4. Participants are advised to take up their own personal or other insurance policies. No insurance will be provided by the Event.

Additional Notes

          1. OCBC credit/debit card members will be entitled to a 10% discount off the relevant full rate registration fees. This discount does not apply for Go 5/10 or More registration entries and corporate registration.
          2. All OCBC Cycle 2015 – 2019 participants of the non-competitive rides will enjoy S$3 Loyal Cyclist discount off the online registration fees of any non-competitive ride category and discounts can apply to multiple non-competitive ride categories. You will enjoy another 10% discount when payment is made with an OCBC credit/debit card. The Loyal Cyclist Discount is applied automatically when you sign up online.
          3. Participants who purchased their registration entries under Go 5/10 or More will enjoy exclusive discounts. Registration of groups between 5 – 9 pax will receive a 10% discount off registration fee. Registration of groups above 10 pax will receive a 13% discount off registration fee. OCBC credit/debit card members will not be entitled to additional 10% discount off the registration fee. Kindly note that each promotion or discount cannot be used in conjunction or together with another promotion or discount.
          4. Go 5/10 or More discount is only applicable for Participants who purchase their registration under “Go Red”.
          5. Discounts apply only to online registrations via the Official Website.
          6. All fees are quoted in Singapore Dollars.
          7. There will be no extension of any registration promotion.
